POWER SAFE & POWER SET EARTH COMPOUND is about replacing the existing soil around the earth pit with better soil.
For fast dissipation of fault current from the earthing conductor, there must be moisture for maintaining ionic state. Current passes faster in ionic solutions. Salts are available naturally in the soil. Hence with some amount of coke materials and clay retaining moisture in the soil around the earth pit can help the cause.
SECOND FUNCTION of back filling is to protect the earthing conductor from direct contaminants and corrosion. This elongates the life of the electrode.
THIRDLY, Back filling ensures there are no pebbles in the earth pit, no air is trapped in the pit and the area is free of sand and rocks. This decreases the soil resistivity and enhances conductivity of the system.
To manage all these, backfilling is composed of montormillonite - a clay that retains moisture, Graphite- basically carbon, graphite assists conductivity, metal powders- again to enhance conductivity.
When added into the soil, back filling retains up to 28% moisture of the total volume.
